Sunday 2 February 2014 East Jerusalem

We walked into East Jerusalem and the Old City.  We took pictures of everyday scenes we see as we walk in and out of East Jerusalem.

The first round about is in front of Herod's Gate on Sultan Suleiman Street. Herod's Gate is one of the entrances into the Muslim Quarter. The police often block the round about - we don't know why.

Sala E Din Street, opposite Herod's Gate. Narrow road, cars parked on both sides of the road and double parked.

Walls of the Old City between Herod and Damascus Gates.  The walls are built on top of the bedrock.

Bread vendor on the way to Damascus Gate, along Sultan Suleiman Street.

The train is passing below New Gate.  Notre Dame Hotel is on the left.

New Gate is an entrance to the Christian Quarter.

Linda is with Shaban on Christian Quarter Road in the Old City.  Shaban has known Mormons for years.

Damascus Gate is between Herod's Gate and New Gate.

Outside the Old City between Damascus Gate and Herod's Gate.

We often buy vegetables and fruits from our friends Bilal and Osmon, near the bottom of the Kidron Valley as we walk between the Jerusalem Center and the Old City.

A newspaper article in the Jerusalem Post praised the government for reducing the digital and social gap in an underprivileged school.  This refers to a school for Jews, not Arabs, in Israel.
