Tuesday 6 May 2014 Ammunition Hill, Menachem Begin Memorial, St Andrews Church

Tues. May 6, was Jerusalem's Independence Day- 66 years since the "War of 48."  We went to Ammunition Hill which was a battle site during the "6 Day War" in 1968.  It is next to the light rail train station near Shek Jarrah.  They were having a special celebration with exhibits, displays of weapons, film about the battle, and museum.

The children played with the ward equipment.

This is a cable car  they used during the War of Independence to transport supplies across the ravine  at night.  It is south and west of the Old City.  The city had been sealed off  by Palestinians so no supplies, water, or people could enter the city.

This is a view of the Hinnom Valley.  It's translation is the Valley of Hell because it is so treacherous and barren.

We also went to the Menachen Begin museum for a tour.

We also went to the Menachen Begin museum for a tour     This is the peace document that was signed by Jimmy Carter, Menachen  Begin and Anwar Sadat.

St. Andrew's church was just next door to the museum.
