We toured the Temple Institute in the Old City. A Jewish group formed an organization to research the dress, instruments, and practices of Biblical temples for their plans to rebuild a temple in Jerusalem. There are representations of priestly garments, temple layout, and temple instruments as described in the Bible.
Our guide recognizes the Temple Mount is holy to 3 religions, He believes the rebuilding of the Jewish temple will usher in a period of peace among all nations. An Israeli paratrooper, who helped capture the Temple Mount before giving control back to the Muslims was a founder of the Temple Institute.
The guide said they believe the earth began on the Temple Mount, and it is where Adam was created.
They plan to continue the practice of animal sacrifice, but it will be indoors, whereas the Biblical sacrifices were done outdoors.
The Ark of the Covenant may have been buried under the temple mount before the Romans captured Jerusalem. There is evidence the temple Menora was taken to Rome as part of the plunder, but there is no evidence the Ark of the Covenant was taken. They believe it is still buried in the temple mount.
This Menora is on display near the Western Wall and the Temple Institute. It was built by the Institute
to be used in the rebuilt temple.
