Monday 12 January 2015 St. Vincent's and Mea Shearim

Blaine and I went to St. Vincent's Home for Children with Special Needs in Ein Kerem.  BYU helped them purchase a new walk-in refrigerator for their kitchen and we wanted to see the progress.

To get to St. Vincent's you  go to Mary's Well and then take the narrow road to the left.  It is a one lane street up the hill.

As we enter the gate, we see the old Catholic home for disabled children.  BYU students have volunteered to work with the children here.

Linda,  Sister Pascal and Sister Susan are cold in the new refrigerator.  I love these sisters.  They are so dedicated in running this facility for the disabled.

This is the construction site for the new walk-in refrigerator.

This is the village of Ein Karem.  It is thought to be the birthplace of John the Baptist.  The Church of St. John is a short hike up the hill.

Ein Keren is beneath Yad Vashem, the Holocaust memorial.  Ein Karem reminds me of Park City, an artsy town in the hills with little shops, restaurants, and art galleries.

On the way home we saw creative parking at Mahane Yehuda marketplace.
.
We drove through the ulta orthodox Jewish neighborhoold Mea Shearim on the way home.
