Tuesday 6 January 2015 Arab Society for Physically Handicapped and Siraj al Quds

We made a humanitarian visit to Arab Society for the Physically Handicapped.  We delivered some hygiene kits to their office.  Blaine, 2 men who work there, and Niveen, the director.

At Siraj Al Quds School for the Blind only 25 % of the students are sight impaired. The goal is to integrate sight impaired children with normal sighted children. They are an active bunch of kids.

The school is just outside of the Old City in a Palestinian neighborhood. This is their playground.

BYU students painted some of the murals.

This area is right next door to the school.  Some of  the boys climbed the fence, picked the green vegetation,  and then ate it.  There was a narrow ledge and then a very steep drop off with a lot of garbage.  It looked very unsafe and unhealthy from a retired teacher's point of view. They make their fun and entertainment where ever they can.

  1. That yard looks like the old Silwan front yard where we first taught. So sad.
