Thursday December 19, 2013 Bethany

We delivered 250 hygiene and 250 school kits to Sawsan at Peace Center for Heritage. Sawsan will give the kits to a Bedouin School that was flooded which ruined a lot of the school materials.

Kevin and Blaine went with Tawfic to see a house the Jerusalem Center agreed to help renovate for Peace Center for Heritage. A wealthy family has bought the property where Sawsan has her store. By law, the new owner cannot evict the tenants.  Sawsan is negotiating to be paid to move, or to have an agreement for space in the new owner's building.

While we were in Bethany, one of the Franciscan priests showed us a piece of clothing one of the popes wore when he visited the church in Bethany.

In the afternoon, Linda and Erin took the children to the Jerusalem Zoo.  Blaine took John, Kristin, Kevin, Anne, and Hannah to the Holocaust Museum.

A pope visited the church near Lazurus' tomb and donated this piece of clothing after his visit.

The pope sat on the chair in this chapel when he visited Lazarus' tomb.

Belnaps and Howards made ginger bread houses after dinner.
