Thursday 25 September 2014 Russian Church of the Ascension of Mount of Olives

Thursday, Sept. 25, we went for a walk on our lunch hour.  We had tried to find the entrance to the Russian Church of Ascension on the Mount of Olives.  This time we kept asking people until we found the entrance.  It was back in on a dead end street.  It was worth looking for- a little oasis and convent in the middle of the Mount of Olives.

This is a view from the back of the church.  This is one of the towers that is a landmark for the Mount of Olives.  Three towers- the Russian Church of the Ascension, Augusta Victoria Hospital, and a tower at Hebrew University make it easy to locate the Mount of Olives from anywhere in the city.

  1. I loved seeing this. We never made it over thinking since there was scaffolding all over the outside, they must be renovating on the inside also. Thanks for sharing the great pictures.
