Friday 16 May 2014 Telman's for Shabbat dinner

Friday, May 16, we were invited to Judy and Stu Telman for Shabbat dinner.  The Telmans are a Jewish couple who have supported the Sunday night concerts for a very long time. They wanted to do something to show their appreciation for the free concerts so they started inviting BYU couples to their home for dinner on a Friday night.  Judy cooks a full course kosher meal and then goes through the ritual of blessing the different parts.  It's really a lovely evening and a way we get to experience the culture of the Jewish people.  Below is a Jewish prayer that Jan Clayton gave as a hostess gift.

The Shabbot candles are lit at sundown.
Judy is a wonderful cook and her presentation and table are beautiful.
We always have a soup course.  This time a dumpling soup.

We always have a wonderful time with the Telmans.  They're a very outgoing and giving couple.  Some of my favorite memories are their Sabbath dinners.

Stu and Judy are from Chicago.  They made Alyah (where they come to Jerusalem and become citizens) in the 1980's.
