Atnachta is an organization in So. Jerusalem that provides a safe environment and counseling for teenagers in need of temporary housing. We helped them get new bed mattresses for their facility.
We were also invited to a high school graduation for students at Effeta School for the Deaf in Bethlehem. These students have been together since they were 2 years old. They start working with the deaf children at a very early age teaching them to read lips. The mothers are instructed how to work with them before they go to school. They are beautiful amazing young adults. You can hardly tell they are hearing impaired. It was especially touching seeing the students greet their parents after the graduation exercise. It was a day they had all worked extremely hard for. Their teachers, the nuns, were also very joyful and proud of their students. It was really a touching experience. We attended a reception at the hotel after.
The priest officiated at the graduation.
