Ein Karem is one of my favorite places in Israel. It's a Park City type town southwest of Jerusalem with art stores and restaurants. John the Baptist was supposedly born there. On Friday, May 30, we went hiking and then stopped for dinner at one of the local restaurants. Restaurants are open there on Fri. nights because it is quite secular (non religious). I'm not sure which of the kids I was talking to but the hillsides and flowers are beautiful.
