Tuesday 10 June 2014 Teaching at Spafford and Silwan

Tues. June 10, Jan Clayton,  Erin Belnap and I went into the Old City to teach summer school at Spafford School.  We've taught Mon. & Tues. for the 3 weeks of summer school.  Our subjects have been: feelings, colors, antonyms, and healthy foods.  It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed doing it with Erin Belnap and Jan, my side kicks at Silwan.

After teaching at Spafford, we went to Silwan Elementary where they had prepared a lovely surprise farewell luncheon for us.  The principal gave us awards and thanked us for helping their school this year.  It's been a lot of fun getting to know the faculty and the students.  They have little to work with, but make the most of it.  Silwan Elementary opened a new school this spring.  The upper grades are in the new school and the younger grades are still in the old school.

The principal, Haseba, gave Blaine a certificate of appreciation.

The lunch was lovely.  The faculty had all brought something.  The big hit was a spinach cake with cream cheese frosting.  Anything would taste good with cream cheese frosting, but this actually was yummy with a bright green color.

Our dear friends at school.  Inas Ansari is on the right.  She is our contact person there.

After lunch, we gave a short lesson to the fifth graders.

That evening we took Jason, Jillian, Lee and Joan to the look out at Seven Arches.  They leave to go home tomorrow.  We've had a great time with them.
