Sunday 12 October 2014 Park near German Town and Alma Deucher concert

The Sukkot holiday is in full swing.  Many Jewish people came into the city for the holiday so many roads are closed.  It's made for terrible traffic congestion on the roads that are still open.  Blaine and I stopped at a public skate park south-west of Jerusalem.  Lots of Jewish families were out having fun.

and even when they're using the exercise equipment.
Across from the entrance to the Jerusalem Center is a look out at Hebrew University.  There are often groups meeting as with this group of Ultra Orthodox Jewish men.
Alma Deutcher was the guest performer at the Sunday Night Concert.  She is a 9 year old pianist, violinist and composer.  The whole program was music she had written.  She started playing the piano at 2 years old and was writing music 6.  Alma has been on the Today Show and  the Ellen Degeneris Show. You can hear her on You-Tube.  She is a child prodigy.  Her father is Jewish, her mother English and they live in England.  I asked her how much she practices each day - 6 hours.  She and her sister are home schooled.

At the end of the performance, Alma took requests from the audience to play on the organ.
Her little sister sold CD's after the concert.  I hope these darling girls can have a normal life.

  1. I am so jealous that you were able to experience this. I am still talking about Alma to people here.
