Tuesday 30 September 2014 Burma Road near Bet Shemesh and Latrun

The Burma Road was build by the Jewish military during the 1948 War as an alternative route from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.  The Palestinian military had control of the main highway, Route #1.  They were hoping to cut off all supplies to Jerusalem and hold them hostage.  Blaine and I hiked the trail until we got to Route #38.  It took us a couple of hours round trip.

The road was rocky, with alot of wash outs.  A jeep, truck, or 4-wheeled vehicle would be needed.

There were a lot of rock walls built on the sides of the road.  I'm not sure why or who did it but we thought it interesting.

Tel Aviv is seen in the distance.

Yes, Blaine was there too.

There was a campground at the trail head.

  1. You both look really good. It's fun to see you squinting from the sunlight. We really miss you and can't wait to you come back to Utah.
