We visited the Spafford School in the Old City, between Herod and Damascus Gates. There are after school programs for children at the school. The Spafford family lost 3 of their 4 children while traveling to Europe in the late 1800's. The ocean liner they were traveling on collided with another ship. Later, the family moved to Jerusalem to find peace. They started the American Colony and turned their grief into service to others. Their home was turned into a hospital and later the school. It's a beautiful building with tile floors throughout and is maintained well.
