Tuesday 8 April 2014- Day in Galilee

We stayed overnight at the Tiberias Branch house in the downstairs classrooms. Dawn and Jay Fox are the Service Couple there and had invited us to stay with them.  I  brought dinner and Dawn added to it.  That evening we went down to the Sea of Galilee and walked along the board walk.  The next morning Dawn had a nice breakfast ready and we got on our way.  The flowers were beautiful in front of their house (Tiberias Branch house). The church has a gorgeous view of the Sea of Galilee from the room they use for meetings.

We stopped at the Greek Orthodox Church outside Capernaum while Jon and Lisa and family went to the village of Capernaum where Jesus taught.  The following pictures are of the Greek Orthodox Church grounds.

Peacocks roamed freely on the church grounds.

We went to the Mount
of Beatitudes where Jesus gave the Sermon on the Mount.  There was a pool of fish that caught the kid's attention.

The flowering trees were beautiful.

Tal and Jon entertained themselves throwing rocks.

Lisa, Linda, and Jackson in front of the Church of the Beatitudes.

Then it was off to the marzipan museum where they had displays of winning sculptures as well as a class for the kids to try their hand molding marzipan.  Can you see the similarities?

The kids had their try at making their own marzipan creations.

Caesarea Maritime was our final stop on the way back from the Galilee.  It is an ancient Roman city that Herod built and named after his friend, Augustus Caesar.  There is an amphitheater, aqueducts, hippodrome, and many ancient ruins as well as a beautiful sea port on the Mediterranean Sea.

The water was a little cold.  Behind are the aqueducts that carried the water.
